Direct recall questions are open-ended and are designed to test your ability to remember material. Since we believe in the importance of memorization for the USMLE, we offer over 30,000 total direct recall-style flashcard questions for this purpose alone. All of the flashcard questions you do in Firecracker are considered in our spaced repetition-based recommendation algorithm, which will prompt you to review the material you're most likely to forget.

Both multiple choice questions and open-response (direct recall) flashcard questions are completely integrated into Firecracker's system. Additionally, we offer a few thousand all-original board-style questions, about which you can learn more in this FAQ: https://intercom.help/firecracker/knowledge-base/where-can-i-find-usmle-style-and-exam-simulations
